{{/presale}}Like many of the Royal Canadian Mint’s bullion products, the Gold Maple Leaf’s obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. There have been two different portraits of Her Majesty used on the 1/20th ounce gold coin, so the particular design you receive may vary based on the year of issue. As these coins are largely sourced from the secondary market, the dates and designs of this product may or may not include a variety.
The reverse features Canada’s iconic national symbol of the maple leaf. You’ll also find inscriptions of the coin’s purity and weight.
The first Gold Maple Leaf was issued in 1979, making it the world’s first pure 24k gold bullion coin. At that time, the only widely available gold coin was the 22k South African Krugerrand. The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf continues to be among the world’s purest gold coins regularly issued by a sovereign mint. Gold Maples issued between 1979 and 1982 had a purity of .999.
Individual coins will ship in a plastic flip. Multiples may come in mint-sealed plastic sheets or tubes, depending on inventory.
