{{/presale}}The American bald eagle is one of the most visible symbols of America. Chosen by the Founding Fathers as the national symbol of the United States, the bald eagle has featured on countless American symbols over the course of the last two-plus centuries, from American coins to governmental emblems. Today, you can get 1/2 oz Silver Eagle Rounds online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The American flag was first created during the American Revolution as a symbol of the nations fight to gain freedom from Great Britain. The flag that the Continentals eventually carried into battle featured a field of blue with 13 white stars in a circle, as well as 13 stripes of alternating red and white. The modern American flag still bears the same 13 stripes and a blue field with stars, though it now features 50 white stars.
Obverse
On the obverse of 1/2 oz Silver Eagle Rounds, you will find the image of two different bald eagles. The bird in the background is captured with just the head in the design element as it looks to the right side of the round. The bird in the foreground is shown in its full figure with swept wings and talons extending beneath its frame. The inscriptions on this field of the round include STRENGTH, FREEDOM, PRIDE, and the national motto of IN GOD WE TRUST.
Reverse
The reverse side of 1/2 oz Silver Eagle Rounds depicts the American flag. Shown here as it flaps in the wind, the stripes of the flag are shown along with the field of 50 stars in the upper left. The inscriptions on this face of the round include HALF TROY OUNCE, .999 FINE SILVER, and GOLDEN STATE MINT.
History
The bald eagle is one of the most prominent symbols in American life. Pull out any coin in your pocket or bill from your wallet and you are likely to find an American bald eagle. The eagle has featured on national coinage since 1794. Today, it remains on certain denominations of national coinage and is featured on all of the bullion coins in the American Eagle Series from the United States Mint.
