{{/presale}}Platinum is often overlooked as an investment option by investors focusing on gold and silver. While the latter two remain the most popular, platinum coins attract their own niche of investors and have seen ebbs and flows in demand since the introduction of modern bullion options in 1978. Today, the number of options is growing, but fractional-ounce coins remain a relative rarity. Provident Metals currently has 1/2 oz Platinum Coins in varied conditions available to purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase a 1/2 oz Platinum Coin in this product listing, you will receive a specimen that is inside of an individual protective plastic flip. The coins available here are in varied conditions and come from any mint. For example, the coins could be in brand-new condition or could showcase production flaws from the coining process.
Provident Metals selects your coins at random once your payment has been processed. We cannot accommodate requests for a particular design, date mark, or mint of origin with your purchase through this listing. The coin you receive is based on the availability in our warehouse at the time your payment clears. Please note that buying more than one coin can result in receiving several matching dates, designs, and conditions on the coins.
Designs
There are few platinum coins available in 1/2 oz platinum, but those that are come from some of the most popular coin collections in the world. Among them, the American Eagle 1/2 oz Platinum Coin. The fractional-ounce coins in the American Eagle Series were issued only from 1997 when the series debuted until 2008 when fractional-ounce coining ended. These coins have an effigy of the face of the Statue of Liberty on the obverse, with an American bald eagle soaring over the nation on the reverse.
Another possible coin you could receive would be the Canadian Maple Leaf 1/2 oz Platinum Coin. Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint from 1988 to 2002 alongside three other fractional-ounce coins, the Maple Leaf 1/2 oz Platinum Coin features the sugar maple leaf on the reverse field. Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse of the coins. Those coins dated 1988 and 1989 have the second-generation design from Arnold Machin. Coins issued 1990 to 2002 have the Dora de Pedery-Hunt third-generation effigy of the Queen, the first from a Canadian artist.
