{{/presale}}Proof American Eagle Gold Coins from the United States Mint have a unique history compared to their bullion counterparts. Introduced alongside the Gold Bullion Act of 1985, these proofs initially featured only a 1 oz gold coin. It wasnt until 1987 and 1988 that fractional weights were introduced, including the popular 1/10 oz proof coin. Today, you can get your hands on these Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins online, available from random years, right here at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The fractional-weight Proof Eagle Gold Coins were introduced by the United States Mint in 1987 and 1988. The 1/2 oz coin debuted in 1987, followed by the 1/4 oz and these 1/10 oz Proof Eagle Gold Coins in 1988. Notably, the US Mint has not produced Proof Eagle Gold Coins only in 2009.
Obverse
Adorning the obverse of Proof Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin is Augustus Saint-Gaudens depiction of Lady Liberty from the $20 Gold Double Eagle. Liberty is seen holding a torch and an olive branch as she walks toward the viewer.
Reverse
Meanwhile, the reverse side of the Proof American Eagle Gold Coin features Miley Busiek’s family of bald eagles design. A male bald eagle is seen flying over a nest housing the female bald eagle and her young.

The Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins available at Provident Metals are randomly selected from various years. These coins are available with protective plastic capsules, without the original US Mint boxes. Its essential to note two changes in the history of Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins. From 1988 to 1991, date marks were listed in Roman numerals. However, from 1992 onwards, Arabic numerals were used for dating. Furthermore, mint marks on these proof coins vary yearly for fractional weights. The 1 oz coin has been produced at the West Point Mint since 1986. However, the Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins were initially struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a P mint mark from 1988 to 1993. Later, from 1994 onwards, the West Point Mint began issuing these coins with a W mint mark.
